Companies selling air purifiers have been quick to fill the spike in demand. Eureka Forbes has decided to hire 100 sales executive to sell air-purifies in the Capital. Not for the National Capital Region (NCR) that includes Gurgaon and Noida—just for Delhi. That’s how much the demand is.

Nearly 40 per cent of the country’s air-purifier sales come from Delhi. Experts say the market for air-purifiers is expanding by over 100 per cent a month.

“We have been in the business of air purification for decades but it has been on slow burn. Since US President Barack Obama visited India, talk of air pollution has gone up. We are hiring extra sales people for the Delhi market. We will also be launching an additional range of products by the end of this month. Most of our growth is centred around Delhi but air quality in most Indian metros is hazardous. These cities need different kinds of purifiers depending on the weather — filters used in humid conditions are different from filters used in dry weather,” said Shashank Sinha, senior general manager of Eureka Forbes.
